This is the Super K Mart  on Brookpark Rd in Brooklyn, OH still in operation.  It even has a Gas Station( K Mart Express), and has leased out the Auto Service to John King Automotive.

At the gas station, when the blue light is on you save 5 cents a gallon!!

Kmart is done.  It's not new...   I visited the Kmart, well Big Kmart in Bangor, Maine and again, it's clear that Kmart is near the end...

The store there is quite large, bright and clean unlike many other stores.  They are well stocked compared to 2-3 years ago when many shelves were left empty.  The store has a Little Caesars Pizza Station but it's also named K-Caf?...  The price scanners are hard to find and some are not working, plus they have the Big and Super Kmart logo on them.

The store has the Big Kmart logo outside and a Big K pylon sign wich was not lighted at night...  They have old grey Kmart carts with the 1990 Kmart logo.  They have Ames carts too but not all have a Kmart sticker over the Ames logo and they left the Ames handles intact.  The plastic bags have the new red kmart logo.

The store has 11 or 12 registers and only two were open that sunday afternoon...  The parking lot is large and there was probably no more than 50 cars in it.

It was very easy to get around the store because there were no customers in my way anywhere.  The Pizza Station had three customers..  Service is not too good, some associates care and others don't, plus you have to wait in long lines at the registers.

There is a 20,000 sq.-ft. vacant space located at the right side of the store.  It was probably the former K-Food store, and it's still vacant.  Sears has a store at the Bangor Mall less than a mile away...  so no Sears Unessential will replace Kmart...  watch out for Lowe's to buy the store and use that land more efficiently.

Sorry Kmart.  It's a change from going to Wal-mart all the time but with sales decline going on, Sears using the best locations and 4 logos, 3-4 concepts, Kmart is lost

I have been to this K-mart. when did you go?? no more than 50 is still ok because at least there isn't where there is just the employees cars and a couple costumers cars.

I was there november 13.  The thing is that every store in Bangor was crowded that day but Kmart.  It makes me think that even if they try anything, it's too late to catch customers back.  I think that Toys'r' us had as much cars as Kmart in their parking lot that day.

See this aerial picture of Bangor years ago.  Wal-Mart(2) is full, Bangor Mall, Shaw's(3) and others are full but not Kmart(4).  And it was years ago.

where do you get this image from?? how many cars did k-mart have in the parking lot that day? what time of the day where you there?

I also wonder why K-mart closed a lot of their newer stores in the 2nd wave of bankrupcty? IT is not uncommon for a chain to close newer stores, that is sad since they are modern, and that could be caused by higher leases and overhead, it did not work out there etc, but I guess older stores stay more is because they have built up enough business over the years. some K-marts that were turned into regular K-marts to Super K-marts in late 2001 closed in 2003 as part of the 2nd wave and It got costumers mad. the super K-mart in Detriot closed and that really angered alot of people. K-mart opened in Alaska in 1993 and pulled out in 2003 as part of the 2nd wave of bankruptcy and I bet the Alaska stores closed because the distribution issue, each major place in alaska is like 300 and something miles apart. K-mart closed 80 percent of their TExas stores and pulled out of major markets like Houston (BUT THAT IS THE LARGEST CITY IN TEXAS with 2 million people), Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antanio, Tyler, Austin, Arlington, Amarillo, Witchta Falls, Texas City, San Angelo, , but they did not pull out of El Paso. 20 kmarts are left in TExas. I bet pulling out of those markets in Texas was due to competition.
