The last time I was at our Kmart a bit back they were re doing their shoe dept also. Now I am curious to see how it looks....

the shoe dept at our kmart is a little biger new shelfs and new brands o shoes im going to post some new pics i got from around our kmart well we were ther i snaped a few pics on my camera one relateing to the wwe sale and the other from the gardon shop faceing down to thecheck outs

In regards to the new show deparment, Kmart took over control of the shoe department from a thrid-party vendor who maintained it (Foot Star, Shoe Star, I can't remeber the name...). All stores should be finishing with the clearance of the old shoes and have the new shoes out and displayed.

As apart of the new shoe department, the stores will get new fixtures... some have even gotten a total overhaul (with a new set-up and everything!).

Look for newer brands, better styles and other new things. It is supposed of higher quality then the original shoes, so check it out!

The reason Kmart closed a few stores to become Home Depot is test marketing. Sears is acquiring Home Depot too.

Wish I could get over to the Cromwell CT K Mart. I love how it resembles Ames. I would hope it gets a new look too.

They hav the old auto center up for lease and the garden center seems lost back on the side of the store

ther allways updateing kmart here but ther gardon shop is to small they end up puting some stuff out fount of the store and they use a small section of the parking lot wich walmart does as well our kmart was on the list when they had the frist set of closeings but got saved

So as is the case with everyone else, I suspect, upon my most recent visit to Kmart today, I found the store to be seemingly updated or at least revamped... But really, it's just undergone a facelift. It's seemingly "all new" appeal is what had me wandering aimlessly towards the entrance.

Somehow, the new coat of paint on the building only served to make me realize how small the Beckley Kmart is, having found out more recently that it was formerly a "Town and Country" in the early 1970's. Though the store is branded as a "Big K", it really never should have been. I would venture to say it's probably no more than 80,000 square feet, if that. Needless to say it's dwarfed in comparison to two Walmart Supercenter stores not five miles away. Even Oak Hill, a smaller town a little ways out of the area has a bigger Kmart.

On a more positive note, the inside has been cleaned up drastically, the isles widened, a new pharmacy, rearanged store layout... yet they still can't be bothered to tell you how much they want for a bag of Twix Mini candy bars, and the only merchandise scanner in sight is "out of order". Good ole' Kmart, you never cease to amaze me.

I like the look of the blue carts with the red "K" logo. Our local Kmart still had the grey carts, but its been a bit since i jhave been there. And the did redo the shoe dept.

omg last time i was at kmart it took 30 mins to put a grill on laway cauase the pepole in font wanted money off for the box being damaged but we did get one of the big boses to put the grill in to the shoping cart for us then i think they were talking about more updates for the webster ma store wich ther in the prograss of right now

Update on Torrington.

I was near the store recently and they reattached the front portion of the "K" sign it now looks like it always has since 1997, I guess that part was scheduled for a cleaning or something. Not much exterior renovation has been going on. I guess they can't afford it right now.

sigh. :(

Now now, in the late 90s they changed the signs to say Big Kmart, even if the kmart wasn't big!

I'd say that store hasn't changed that much since 1990, because the Kmart logo with mart inside the K didn't come until 1991.

they've redone the color though it looks more tan now,it used to be a blue grayish color with a small red line at the top.

Most Kmarts that have been recently remodeled inside and out look like a poor man's Target, because of the red color scheme.

whats with kmart turiing off half ther lights for earth day come on thats just dumb ours looks closed cause ot it . then today when we went to pay our layway at thecheck out the dumb bicth put the moneyon the wrong acount then we went back to tell her she sent us to the service desk wich sent us to laway then they go this is the service desk not laway well no duh . we hardey get bad service at kmart now this makes me wonder why they closed so manny louctions

i tought it was dumb turing half the lights out i went buy the walmart and they had evey light on just like evey one elase ibet it was to dark in kmart at night
