ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OH at Ohio Valley Mall. The mall was somewhat bogged with vacancy.

You can usually tell a mall is second rate if Kmart is an anchor. I wanted a shot of the interior entrance (looked like the exterior but was painted tan) but there were maintenance workers all over the place.

GROVE CITY / COLUMBUS, OH.

A typical mid-70s one with pre-Big K sign. I was surprised this one missed the Big K invasion.

Nice Kmart pictures !!  I'm surprised too about that "regular" Kmart logo.  From this angle, you can see the labelscar spots from the older K-mart logo.

Those Craftsman/Kenmore/DieHard signs really attracted thousands of shoppers to that store... ;)

Want a modern Kmart for your city? Wait until a tornado goes through it!
QuoteKmart will reopen Prattville location - March 25, 2008

Kmart is returning to Prattville, a company spokesman said, but the retailer won't promise its former employees their old jobs back.

(...) Freely also refused to release details of what the new store will look like. Kmart is introducing a new design to some of its stores, but she said the company would not decide the Prattville's store's concept until closer to its opening.

Arthur said he had hopes the store would be one of the new designs.

"Our market is ripe for that," he said.

Other retailers have decided to introduce new concepts in Prattville, he said.

"We are seeing that trend," he said. "It is good for us."

Kmart said the new store will be more modern than the former outlet in a statement announcing the new store.

"While merchandising and design plans are still in the early stages, the store will have new fixtures and other design concepts which will give the store a fresh, bright and exciting appearance," the company said.

ACTON, MASS. Taken today 3-30-2008.

A weird looking Kmart with a wood shingled roof. This one didn't have a road sign or a garden shop sign!

A tiny sign and a label scar. This must've been something else before Kmart? This one looks just like the one in Great Barrington.

So is KMART trying to be more high end like Target? The only one left near me is in Braintree, MA.

We used to have one in Rockland that was ghetto fabulous. I get nostalgic just thinking about it. They turned the Kmart building into some weird church!

The Boston area is still a rich market for Kmart stores. Go look at the store locator: you've got Saugus, Acton, Billerica, Somerville, Brockton, Milford -- all within 30 miles!

This one moved from  across the street from a tiny store to a new huge store. It did not last long Super walmart opened up...I think this closed in 2000

Yeah.. Braintree is the only one close by. I went there on Saturday just to appease my curiousity. The decor was deliciously out of date and the prices were not that good. It was awesome. I actually got this really cute purple sleeveless sweater though.

Former K-Mart in Largo, FL. A self-storage facility has taken it over, along with most of the dead strip mall that surrounds it. I wonder if it will swallow up the recently closed Kash-N-Karry as well.

The infamous Appliance Direct in Daytona Beach, FL looks like an old Kmart.

I could not agree more. I was in there not to long ago.

I hate the Webster, MA Krapmart.  The floors are so dirty in some spots I don't even think bleach could clean it up.  Since Little Caesars closed I've had no reason to go there.  A few years ago they had some guys walk out with a big screen tv and no one even stopped them... and they got away.

thats theft, or near Grand theft. I have a friend from my college from Oxford who thinks the store is gross!   I read the store got expanded in 1992.
