Former Kmart in East Haven, CT. These were taken just today. Place didn't seem as "scary" when I came here March 2006. This was the former "auto center" - you can make out the lettering.

Former Kmart in Manchester, NH. These were taken on july 7. The place is now a Burlington Coat Factory. This was the former auto center - you can see where the garage doors were in the wall.

Ah, yes. I knew this was a Kmart because of the rest of the plaza's look but couldn't determine which was the store at one point. This is right next to Toys "R" Us in Manchester. The ridged walls gave it away. I took a shot of the plaza in February.

We also have an interesting update for our infamously short-lived K-Mart that opened in 2001 and closed in 2004.  While a very nice store when it first opened, it soon became junky and unpopular and an eyesore. (How could it compete with 2 Wal-Marts and 2 Targets within a 5 mile radius??)

While it has sat vacant for over 3 years, new life will be breathed into it as is is turned into an indoor recreation area containing mini golf, go-karts and a brand new Red Robin restaurant in the upper parking lot.

Anything at this point would be a welcome sight, the last stores went out of the plaza in 1995 the big anchor stores went out in 1991 and 1994  and it has been empty ever since.

Our local paper reported last week that Kmart/Sears is not doing so well. It said customers in the Tampa Bay area are confused with the Sears Essentials & Sears Grand format changes. And longtime Kmart customers are irritated because since the Sears buyout Kmart prices are higher. I have been to the Sears Essentials and it is always dead in there, compared to our local Kmart where there are atleast a few customers.

As some of you may know the Price Chopper I work at is a former KMART. Anyway today I rung up a customer who was wearing a red KMART polo shirt.

Here's another KMart in Jacksonville, it's probably the biggest "Big K Mart" I've been in. It's been there for many years and still has a K Cafe formerly a Little Caesars.

one of my friends works at the one in Londonderry and he told me it was becoming a full line Sears.

Went to Kmart to do some Christmas shopping today and it was packed. I was surprised to see that many cutomers in Kmart. Needless to say it has been a while since I have seen that and all of the registers going at one time. On the other hand me and my wife went to the Sears Essentials over the weekend and there were three customers in the store. Sears should have left Kmart alone because prices on some things are more than they are at Kmart. I don't think Sears will be around that much longer and they are going to drag Kmart down with them.

I agree and and I went to a Sears Essentials last week and there was almost no on there. it was in Parsippany new jersey.

Sears should have left Kmart alone or vice versa because Kmart was doing fairly decent after emerging from bankruptcy. Since that merger I have seen less customer service in Kmart than I had ever seen before, and higher prices.:huh:

This plaza was somewhat rundown, store looked ratty and kind of 'ghetto.'

Look at Dan Fife's picture on page 51 -- this store might've repainted a bit a few years back?
