I HAVE TWICE AND I HAVE PICTURES OF IT, but I photographed it before I used digital and can digitize it. also I went to a kmart in watertown Ct and it has the old school look. the watertown Ct manager told me the store is 36,000 square feet. I wonder if any other kmarts have the old lettering out there. I have been to 140 kmarts in my life and only 2 of them still have the old lettering.

Yuck. I like the Big K style logo better. Heck, even the old school Kmart with the K and the little mart was better that this crap.

I digitized these pictuers and took them myself.

1. top - Kmart in Boston / Dorchester mass in south bay center and 128,000 sq.ft. and opened late 1993. It closed even thought it had kmarts clientelle. I guess the rent ws high. It closed in the dreaded 2003 round. my dad and I went there and he thinks that whoever owned the plaza wanted Kmart out, as Target replaced it in a year. I took this picture in 2003.

2. Kmart in Brighton mass that was a Caldor and replaced the 85,000 sq.ft. store in 1999 and got kicked out by harvard last summer after a 2 year battle. I took this picture in 2004.

Here's what I believed to have once been a K Foods in Cromwell, Connecticut. It's located right next door to the Kmart, which has the same 1970s building style. Interesting thing about this "Xpect Discounts" is that it never received a white paint job or had the pebble facade removed like neighboring Kmart did.

Here's the Kmart and former subsidiary store next door. Not too clear on the history of K Foods but I imagine the corporation discontinued it's grocery chain sometime in the early 80s(?) This is one of the few stores left in Connecticut, located in Cromwell along Shunpike Road and is the second store to have a former K Foods next door (the other being Waterbury, CT).

This plaza is quite old, somewhat disheveled, and probably faces some neglect by it's owners. Nonetheless, it's packed with cars and benefits from easy visiblity right off CT-9. Reportedly, this plaza has been having problems with muggings in broad day light...

Here's one of the plaza signages; again vintage and probably harkening from the early-mid 1970s apart from some of the individual signs updated.

At least two of the former Evansville Indiana K-Mart locations at K-Mart affiliated grocery stores attached to them.  You could go from the department store to the grocery store from a turnstyle area near the front plate glass windows.  The grocery stores turned into local venue's when I was very young (late 70's or early 80's).  When I was a Sophomore in HS I worked at one of the grocery stores named, Wesselmans.  The store was clad in the former K Mart grocery markings all the way up until its closure in 2003.  I wish I had gone back to take pictures of it as it was a real 1970's gem.  From 2003 to 2006 the K-Mart center sat completely abandoned and took some serious vandalism hits because of its location off of the highway.
On the bright side, in late 2006 a Rural King opened in the former K-Mart breathing life back into the old 1960's shopping center.  When back home, I will try to get some modern day pictures of it.

Here's another former K-Foods coupled K-Mart along Wolcott St. in Waterbury, CT. This street is saturated with retail history (since gone, but plenty vestige of old), and here's a small piece which still exists from decades gone.

Here's the K-Mart on Wolcott St., Waterbury, CT. There's plenty of label scarring from when Little Caesar's was once here. That chain, which used to couple most K-Mart stores, has taken a financial dive along with K-Mart itself but still struggles.

Here's the antique road sign of K-Mart. The frame is the same, the logo is up to date with the "Big" K-craze (you can also see the former Toys R Us sign in the back, since taken by Price Chopper advertisments).

Does anyone know if K Mart is in another "shuttering mode"?
I passed by Princeton Indiana today and noticed the Going Out of Business signs hanging from the building.

kmart is not. 3 months ago they announced the one in princeton is closing and it was closing on an individual basis due to economic reasons.

here is the former k-mart in ogdensburg. it opened fall 1990, was 86,479 sq.ft. and closed early spring 1998 due to low sales, but it was not a part of a round of closings.

Just a slight correction on this.  Yes, there WAS a Kmart store here from 1990-1997, but this is NOT the same building.  The former Kmart store (along with three others next to it in the plaza) was demolished in 2004 or 2005 to make room for this Lowe's store.

here is what I believe is where the former k-mart in watertown ny was. I heard that it was on this street and the store was 70,000 sq.ft. (another thing said 45,000 sq.ft.) until it moved on arsenal st. (I list the picture of it next()

The store you have shown here in Watertown NY is not the former Kmart.  This is now the Big M supermarket (formerly Acme and Super Duper.)  The former Kmart is at the very southern edge of the city on Route 11 and is back from the road.  After Kmart moved out, the building was bought by the local hospital and made into doctor's offices.  I will try to get some pics of the old Kmart on my next trip to Watertown.
