Actually, to correct d_file's post, there were actually three Jordan Marsh stores in New York State. These were the stores:

Albany - Crossgates Mall - Opened 1984 - Closed 1995

Poughkeepsie - Poughkeepsie Galleria - Opened 1987 - Closed 1991

Middletown - Galleria at Crystal Run - Opened 1992 - Closed 1995

umm yes there was actley in Middletown at the Galleria at Crystal Run it was there when i went there back in 1994 and it closed a year latter

says jordan marsh had 18 stores in the end and Albany new york was the only outside new england then

I do not remember how much different Jordan marsh was than Macy's. That was almsot 10 yeras ago. The  defunct Methuen mall had a Jordan Marsh. I never went in the jordan marsh because I first went to teh Methuen mall as it was dying. Jordan marsh moved from tehre to the rockingham park mall in Salem new hampshire in spring 1994, 2.5 years after the rockingham park mall opened.

Here is how it goes for downtown boston. Filene's closes in downtown manchester. Did macys downsize the old Jordan marsh.

I believe Macy's has been around for at least a century if not more. The annual parade started in the 1920's. I never make out here. Very overpriced in my opinion. I can find the same clothes in Sears, J C Penney or even Old Navy
