This is a Caldor in Middletown NY still vacant after the chain went Bankruped in 1999 and is still Avable from what i Believe the logo has been takeing down as of 2004

Plenty of available space in the Lewiston/Aubun area in Maine.  The former Ames at the Lewiston Mall (Sears Left), former Porteous department store at the Auburn Mall (JCPenney left) and Service Merchandise at Auburn Plaza (Big Lots/Tjmaxx left)...  There is an empty Wal-Mart also available.:)

The stores prefer to build new stores instead of picking up the vacant ones.  Lowe's / Wal-Mart Supercenter

there are hardly ever any vacant stores in germantown,maryland.

But In the  Other 2/3rds of the tri-cities,there are quite a few vacant spaces. such as the vacant kids r us space in rockville.

WHAT IS WITH these vacant stoers in lewiston/ auburn? I bet the whole Auburn Mall is next for vacancies.

Yeah the Auburn Mall is almost half vacant!  Now we know that Kohl's will demolish the old Wal-Mart to open a new store.

It's really hard to tell what is open in the mall.  Their website auburnmall.com has a list, Storetrax has another list and mall plan, i have a holiday shopping brochure with another list of store...  

Many stores still listed are closed, some are seasonal stores like Halloween World, quite probably closed.  The GAP closed and the Lamey Wellehan shoe store built a new free-standing store nearby.  They do have great stores like "As Seen On TV"  The only good news is the coming of Pac Sun.

Kohl's opening nearby will not help the "almost half vacant" mall.

thus kida sounds like whats happening to the Jefferson Vally mall in NY were i live it has a half Vacant Service Merchandise closed in 1999 might have been 1998

and a outdated Macys witch i think might leave next and a crappy Sras and fading mall stores

The former 120,000 Sq. Ft.  Sam's Club in West Mifflin, PA is still vacant.  In the late 80s and early 90s it was a Pace, and before that from 1967 - 1980, it was a Sears.  Sears relocated to the the newly built Century III Mall in Fall of 1980, then the building sat vacant for a couple of years.  The Community College of Allegheny County had classes in the building for a brief time in 82 or 83 while the nearby campus was being repaired after a flood.

The listing says that the building was built in 55, if anyone knows what occupied the building originally or at any point up to 67 when Sears then used the building, please let me know.

The former KB TOYS in Southington and Bristol are still available. (Tho the one in Southington was sub-divided and the bank that used to occupy it closed down too).

The former FYE in Southington is still available.

The former CitiBank in Price Chopper Plaza in Bristol is still available.

The former Rainbow Rentals in Price Chopper Plaza in Bristol is still available. (along with an adjacent former Chinese restaurant that's been vacant since KMART was in that plaza).

Half of the former Super Stop and Shop in Bristol is still available.

Most of the former LOEWS 8 in Bristol is still available. The building was completely rehabbed several years ago. A Subway and a nail salon recently moved in.

The former Brooks Pharmacy/Walbaums in Bristol's West End is still vacant. (Another supermarket briefly occupied the former Waldbaums).

The former Save-A-Lot in New Britain is available. (Who'd want it? The roof caved in back in December).

The former Famous Dave's BBQ Restaurant in New Britain is still available.
