The Penn-Can Mall Ames opened in 1983 as a Hills. It sealed the mall entrance in the mid-1990s when the mall closed. It was acquired by Ames in 1999. Obviously, Ames did not bother to remove the Hills sign inside the mall, which remained until demolition in 2003. Ames closed in 2002.
