Stage Stores files for bankruptcy; liquidation sales start May 15

Seems sort of odd that they would do that after having just converted the stores into the Gordman's brand, some only a month or so before the virus issues started.

Not only would you think that type of store would do better in the near future (as they are more of a 'bargain" brand, with people needing to spend less after this but still get stuff they need), but they should be able to get stock even more easily and probably less costly as other chains are trying to clear out what didn't sell during the closings and leftovers from the bigger chains that are also planning to close locations.

They really couldn't afford the conversions even before the virus hit, and of course with no e-commerce to speak of that killed their cash flow dead.

The local Peeble's were just in the their first week or two of grand openings as Gordman's when they had to close. Terrible timing. We didn't have time to check it out.
