A number of years ago, about early to mid-90's, there was an old wooden-shingled Ames store near here (Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA).
Around then, we had recently moved here.
This particular Ames, sadly, was already shuttered, so I never got a chance to shop there.

(Actually, I've never been to an Ames in my life. I wish I could have, though)

Then, that entire shopping center kinda dwindled afterwards until 2001, when they gutted the former Ames and put up a bunch of other stuff (police station, blood donation clinic, Food Lion supermarket, etc.).

This Monday, for some reason, I decided to go and check out the shopping center from the other side.

Lo and behold, I found that a section of building from outside the police station still had those little wooden shingles on it! I took some pictures of it. I was surprised the new people left it on there. It never occured to me that people hardly ever go to that side of the building.

I thought it was kinda neat, y'know, finding out a little piece of a former store is still standing.
