Now there’s only one left in Vermont in Williston. That one is always busy!

The other 3 in the Burlington, Vermont area closed in 2011-2012 during a wave of Friendly’s closings around the time of their 2012 Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.

One was near the University Mall in South Burlington (a former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant/Now a CVS), one on Shelburne Road in South Burlington (now a Panera Bread), and the other one was in Colchester (a former Shoney’s Restaurant/Now a CVS).

There were 4 others in Berlin (now CVS), Springfield, Brattleboro, and Manchester, VT (now local pizza restaurant) that closed between 2011-now.

No big loss. S.h.i.t.t.y overpriced food and unfriendly people working there. Haven't eaten there in years. Denny's is much better.

so....at Friendly's they aren't very friendly?

Oh, the irony!   ::)

The food is not that great. It’s like a convalescent home in those restaurants now, younger people are just not eating there.

Menu is not strong, not enough decent dinner options.

They draw decent family crowds on the weekends, but it's definitely seniors on the weekdays.

I just noticed the one in feasterville, pa is gone.

Oh well, still got one in walking distance to me in Morrisville, PA and then the one in Neshaminy Mall still exists.

Perhaps, but changing off of that can be tricky.

We had a local chain here in Pittsburgh with the same problem (King's).
It was included in the punchline of all the local jokes about old people
driving giant Buicks around at 15 MPH.

The owners tried to change that by radically shaking-up the menu.
This had the effect of making it a more expensive place to dine as well.

They immediately lost their old-school clientele, but younger people never came
to replace them.  These restaurants are now being shuttered at an accelerating pace.

Okay food IMO, but I'm not hard to please..
Whenever I go it's usually families with small children.

Not a surprise on the business side though.

I always liked the breakfast at Friendly's. I have never eaten anything else there!
