This is the initial report from Sunday saying that some 50 locations were abruptly closed. The thread title has been modified to reflect the situation.

Not that there were many Papa Gino's in Connecticut, but all locations except for the Willimantic location closed. Additionally the D'Angelo on Route 10 East Street in Plainville closed. A couple other D'Angelo locations in CT closed as well.

They filed for Chapter 11 and are selling the chains. The store closure count is now up to 95.

I see how Papa Gino’s had a tough go in CT. Chain pizza restaurants just don’t do well because of, well, much better pizza locally.
D’Angelo’s surprises me. With Subway having a tough go, it sure would have been nice for D’Angelo to prosper. I always preferred them over Subway.

It's a familiar problem - they were servicing so much debt that they didn't have the resources to renovate restaurants and invest in things like mobile ordering.
