Is it a new series?  I know BUZZR has been rerunning the episodes
from the early 90's.

My kids would have been young when it was on.   Never watched it at that time.

I have been catching the reruns on BUZZR and a couple of things strike me.

1) How much prices have gone up.
2) How many once familiar brand names have disappeared and are no longer available.

The game strikes me as odd because the winner is the one who spends the MOST
money, not the one who manages to SAVE the most money (which is the way all
of us actually approach shopping).

They did a damned fine job recreating a 90's supermarket inside that studio.
I wonder who had to restock it?  And what did they do with all the perishables after
the show was over?

Spoiler: I red something that said the food was outdated AND the Hams and stuff was fake.

Here is the article that I read. It gives some cool facts and some weird facts as well. Enjoy if you do read it. It is a pretty good article as well

TheFugitive

The ORIGINAL original series ran on ABC in the mid-60's.
They were shot at actual supermarkets in the NY City area.

Only a handful of episodes survive as black-and-white kinescopes.
