Strange Street names

There sure are a lot of strange road names. The one I saw this morning on the traffic report definitely in the top 10.

1. Roast Meat Hill Road (Didn't catch what town this was in during the traffic report)
2. Burning Tree Drive Southington, CT
3. Reverend Moody Overpass Hartford, CT (Who's Rev. Moody?)
4. Fish Fry Street Hartford, CT
5. Ruggles Row Southington, CT
6. Smoron Drive Southington, CT (It's named after the Smoron family who owned the Smoron Farm)
7. Under Mountain Crossing Southington, CT
8. Alton Brooks Drive New Britain, CT (Who's Alton Brooks?)
9. Glen Carlyn Drive New Britain, CT (Defunct Road. Who's Glen Carlyn? - A developer bought the 9 or 12 houses on this road bulldozed them and built a Target store. The Address of Target is Hartford Road. Glen Carlyn Drive was off of Hartford Road).

There was a road in Moon Township, PA, a few miles outside of Pittsburgh, called Beers School Road.
The campus of Robert Morris College was on Beers School Road.  The mailing address for the college
was Beers School Road.  Parents who took their kids for a campus visit there always raised their eyebrows
when they had to drive down Beers School Road to get there.

When Robert Morris became a University the trustees decided they had had enough.  They convinced Moon Township to change the name of Beers School Road, and it's now University Blvd.

The name Beers School Road had nothing to do with getting drunk on campus.
It had been the site of a one-room schoolhouse in an area named for an early settler
whose last name had been Beers.

In South Windsor, Connecticut Beezebulb Road...

Here in Western PA they like to pull the trick of building a new road as a replacement
for the old road, but leaving the old one in place, and not changing the name.

Hence you end up with "Steubenville Pike" and "Old Steubenville Pike".
And "William Penn Highway" and "Old William Penn Highway".
There are dozens of these around the area.

This is confusing as heck to people who aren't from the area.
