WKAR, the Michigan State University-owned PBS outlet, has announced a partnership with Detroit PBS station WTVS to launch a new 24/7 kid's channel across multiple platforms. This makes WKAR the first college-owned station to announce that it will not partake in the spectrum auction.

Interesting development.  Initially it looked as if WKAR might indeed get auctioned off.
There was apparently a massive push-back from alumni and the community.

I wonder what Central Michigan U. will do with their four stations, including Channel 28 in Flint?
Together they could fetch close to $800M.

Time is tight but I would not be shocked if the auction does get further delayed.
Most universities are likely to cash-in and this would absolutely devastate PBS.
