Trafford Square is located at 3000-3116 Van Horn Road (the northwest corner of Fort Street and Van Horn) in Trenton, Michigan. It was built in 1974 and opened in January 1975. When I first went by there in the early 1980's it was a pretty busy place with Chatham Food Center and Perry Drugs. In fact, there was even a small enclosed mall portion, it's still there but now nearly completely vacant. Today half of the center is vacant. The center is owned by Keystone Commercial Real Estate and contains two separate structures in an "L" pattern, plus a Citizen's Bank (formerly Charter One) in an outlot at Fort and Van Horn.

Current tenants list, east-to-west:

Longer side of "L":

  • 3000: This was originally Chatham Food Center and then later became Seaway Food Town (this was their northernmost store, so far north that it's actually closer to Detroit than their home base of Toledo, Ohio). Then I believe it became a megachurch for a short time. The east half is now Tractor Supply (opened spring 2014), the west half is still vacant.
  • 3010: This is the enclosed mall portion of Trafford Square. Only JV Nails remains there and even then it is not connected to the interior corridor but has an exterior entrance. The rest is completely vacant. Stores originally in the enclosed mall portion included Animal World pet store, Mr. Tax (a Mr. Insurance affiliate), JP's Ice Cream Parlour and Burt's Barber Shop.
  • 3020: Vacant (originally Perry Drugs, became Rite-Aid 1995, moved to a new building a bit up Van Horn in Woodhaven in early 2009)
  • 3030: Was Jo-Ann Fabrics in 1980, later King Dollar, now vacant
  • 3040: Secretary of State office (formerly Hadley's ladies' apparel in 1980, later Dancer's in 1992)
  • 3050: Diamond Creations Jewelers (formerly a La-Z-Boy store in 1980)
  • 3060: LA Insurance (formerly a book and video store called Pages Plus in 1997, was later Subway until it moved into a former Wendy's across Van Horn in early 2013)
  • 3070: Was Southland Floor Covering in 1980, now part of 3080
  • 3080: Great Lakes Ace Hardware (formerly Aco Hardware until 2014)

Shorter side of "L":
  • 3100: Smoker's Shop (was a real estate office in 1980)
