Today NBC canceled the Michael J. Fox Show.

I have thus won a bet with a co-worker which we made when it premiered last year.
He thought it would be a runaway smash hit.  I thought it was going to fail for two reasons.

1) People genuinely like Michael J. Fox, and were going to feel too bad for him
performing in his condition, and thus find it too painful to watch.

2) People with friends and family members who suffer from Parkinsons and similar ailments
were going to find it too painful to watch, and would potentially be offended.

Granted the show lasted more than a season, which is longer than I gave it.
I give Fox a lot of credit for wanting to go back to work, and for trying to make the
best of his situation with humor.  I just thought that most people would not want to watch.

What say you?  Did Fox and NBC take too big a risk in making this show?
