Was this any way connected to Allied Radio?

They were purchased by Radio Shack and merged into that company (actually, the court found it to be too much of a restraint of competition, so most of the Allied stores were closed and Radio Shack stores opened nearby, which was fine since the Allied stores really didn't fit Radio Shack's plan anyway).
