Bad news....  Yahoo! has decided to close GeoCities later this year.  This means that my 9-year old Zayre88 Retail website will be gone soon.  :(

I welcome your suggestions and ideas on what to do to save and move the content to another free web hosting service.  I've read about Ning, Webs, Jimdo, Snapages, Weebly, Google Sites and others...  Tell me what you think.

Thank you!

yeah, I've got web space as well. I am actually starting a new initiative with my site. DeadRetail lapsed due to neglect. I am want to get it back up and running, so hit me up Zayre88 and let me know your thoughts.

Well, I've finally decided to give Google Sites a try.  It's not all good but much better and modern than Geocities... and at least, Google is not closing soon :)

It's still a work in progress but it will give me the occasion to refresh the entire site, update, clean and organize content.

So for all of you using pictures from my Geocities website in the Ames Forums, i'm currently removing files from Geocities so they will dissapear from your posts.

It's over, I've finished the move from Geocities to Google sites.

Update your bookmarks:  http://sites.google.com/site/zayre88

There are still some things to tweak and more pictures to upload but most of it is ready!

Thank you for all your comments!

And it's been more than 9 years already.  at first thewebsite was a bit random and I was mostly blaming Walmart for everything.

The website is now larger, improved and I've learn a lot about retail since 2000 with research, websites like Amesfanclub and working in retail.  The retail landscape has evolved and although we miss Ames and others, we have to live with it.  But it's nice to remember the way it was and how it changed in the past 25 years.

And it's because of people like you, and others on these boards that keep those memories alive. Thank you for all YOU do.

I know that Chris is currently very busy, but is he ever going to update his Ames Fan Club Links with your website@ https://sites.google.com/site/zayre88/? I remember one time back when I was looking for your website, but was unable to find it due to the dead link. It was no problem, though. I was eventually able to relocate it and I must say that it is a very nice site. I like all of the logos of stores of the past in the top banner of the website. They are beautiful! Gives me a step back in time to the 1980's, my favorite pastime.

Interesting site! I spent about six weeks in a Zayre store in Jacksonville, Florida
shortly after the merger.  Really nice people.  Felt bad for them as that store was
closed less than a year later.

Do you recall where in Jacksonville it was? That's where I'm from and I know of two Zayre/Ames locations in Jacksonville.
