I am asking if there is any fellow members on here that like the cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants." It's a funny cartoon currently airs on Nickelodeon (YTV in Canada), and is currently celebrating its 10 year anniversary, since it aired in May 1999. The show is currently in its sixth season, and is Nickelodeon's most watched cartoon. There is a lot of merchandise with his image on it, ranging from toys to t-shirts. The show makes me laugh every time.

I think Spongebob is a great show. It's the only show I watch on Nickelodeon these days.

Not really. Just watch it if I'm really board and there's nothing else on.

I grew up watching a lot of the '90s Nicktoons, such as Doug and Rocko's Modern Life, but I cannot get into Spongebob. I just find it incredibly annoying. I know a lot of people truly adore it, but I just don't 'get' it, I suppose?

Then again, I don't really fancy cartoons in general anymore...I don't go for any of the Cartoon Network stuff, really, even though that is hugely popular as well. *shrugs*

Nevertheless, it's always good to have something that you are passionate about, so more power to you, ShopKoFan! :)

Stephen Hillenburg, who created SpongeBob SquarePants in 1999, is also credited as the creative director on Rocko's Modern Life created by Joe Murray (who now works Camp Lazlo on Cartoon Network), so there is a association between both cartoons.

Other things that associate SpongeBob with Rocko:

Tom Kenny: voiced characters on both shows - Heffer on Rocko; SpongeBob, and his pet snail, Gary on SpongeBob SquarePants.
Mr. Lawrence: voiced Filburt Shellback on Rocko, as well as Plankton and Larry the Lobster on SpongeBob.
Carlos Alazaraqui: voiced Rocko on Rocko's Modern Life and Dr. Gil Gilliam on SpongeBob.

When I'm super bored and there is absolutely nothing else on... It's ok.

Just curious, how can a show celebrate it's tenth anniversary yet only have 6 seasons? Way too many reruns it would seem.

I liked the older episodes more. When it first came about I kinda really could empathize with Spongebob since I worked in fast food although as the series went on he just became more annoying especially with the off key singing. That Best Day Ever episode had me about ready to shoot out the speakers on my TV.

I used to watch SpongeBob all the time when I was younger, however I still buy the DVD season sets and still have all my SpongBob toys, shirts and bed sheets stored away
