Outlook for Sears darkens

Kmart can't be dumped just yet. They're still very marketable across the U.S. They just need to squeeze the chain and keep the best ones open and start a remodeling campaign -- in other words focus on the best performers.

No more "concept" nonsense or shortcut remodeling jobs either. It didn't work for Sears and it didn't work for Kmart.

And by god, ditch the BIG K off your ten plus old storefronts. Return to the simple roots of Kmart.

Problem is also internal, their prices are not the most competitive and their stores are often messy beyond distressed and falling apart -- well at least all the Connecticut ones I've been to (especially Vernon and Torrington).

It's a unifying problem across the board. I see the only option is to further pull out of underperforming markets, begin a new focal campaign.

If anything look towards the best and brightest (Wal-Mart and Target) for what's up. Perhaps the Big K is just sullied itself too many times over by now...
