Here is a collage of various buildings throughout Upstate NY that look like Centennial-era A&P stores. Images photographed between 2017 and 2021.

#2 is in Ravena, in that plaza is a current Stop 'n Shop (formerly a Grand Union, now supplied by but not owned by Hannaford).

#5 - Saranac Lake?  Looks kind of like that as that one was used by a flooring company for many years until fairly recently.

Otherwise... ?

#1 is on 30A in Johnstown.

#2 - did you mean Shop 'n Save? Is it also possible A&P had already closed before Grand Union built that store on the end?

#3 is on Clinton Street in Gouverneur.

#4 is on Main Street in Cobleskill.

#5 is indeed Saranac Lake. It was last Newman & Holmes, and is still empty.

#6 is on Church Street in Gloversville. The empty Frontier building next to it was once Chicago Markets and later Great American.

#7 is recycled from the Big M thread and is located at Old Rte. 17 in Windsor (in Broome County).

Yes - somehow I knew that didn't sound right... ;) - I don't remember it far enough back to know, but the Shop 'n Save/GU building looks newer (like 1980's design), so it probably was that A&P closed first.

May have even been a case where GU took over the A&P space when they were doing bunches of closings (given the lack of any other market in that area), then decided to expand later on.
