I’ve always loved Costco. Definitely a retailer that will survive to retail apocalyptic.

I also like Costco. I miss having a Costco in the Portsmouth NH area. It was convenient and tax-free. Closest ones are in Nashua NH and Danvers MA.

With Sam's club closing stores recently, I thought Costco would expand in NH or Maine but Bj's Wholesale stepped in and is opening new stores...

There is a Costco behind the Crowne Plaza hotel in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, where I'm currently staying. I'm not a member, so I did not check it out. It's nice there's something like that walking distance to several hotels because traffic in that area of KOP is hazardous, due to the mall.

This is a brand new Costco in South Windsor, CT that just opened last November (2021). It is located nearby Evergreen Walk (outdoor shopping mall)
I think Costco is a really neat store because it is a very typical warehouse club.

Costco is planning their first Maine club, but the town's planning board is giving them a hard time

First the board was unsure about the way the building is not located right by the street (wondering why the parking lot is in front of the store and the building way back...)

To me that's the way all big box stores are usually set up

Now the parking lot is too large... what's next?

Some areas seem to prefer it with the parking behind - I guess so that you get the feel of an older style "Main Street" with the buildings all close to the street vs. the more common setups for shopping plazas.

The Scarborough Planning Board voted to approve plans to bring the first Costco to Maine. Scarborough town officials said site work will begin in the fall, with the store likely to open in late 2023 or early 2024.

The new Costco in Scarborough Maine will open in November 2023. Apparently on November 17th.
