New wave/synthpop music making a comeback

Different styles of music that originated in the 1980s are making a comeback in a big way.

Freestyle Music, which is 80s/90s dance music is making a come back. Some of the popular Freestyle Acts from back in the day are starting to release new material. Some of the acts are even touring again (and some never stopped touring). For some reason mainstream radio doesn't want to touch freestyle. Here in Connecticut Lite 100.5 and Kool Oldies Radio) will play "Let the Music Play" by Shannon. Sometimes DJ Buck on Hot 93.7 will do a Freestyle Mix Show 9AM-9:30AM, which they normally use for an old School Hip-Hop Mix show.

For years the only place to hear Freestyle on the radio was during mixes on Hispanic radio Stations. That's how I heard the music for the first time. More recently a Hispanic station in Springfield, Mass known as Power 1270 (now Kool Oldies, also) would often mix Freestyle and Reggaeton during their Lunchtime Mix Show. (Reggaeton being Spanish Hip-hop).

In March 2017 Freestyle came to FM Radio in Hartford. A DJ named Richie Rich began hosting a 2 Hour Freestyle show Sunday Nights 7PM-9PM on LaMega 101.7 FM/910-AM. Still going strong in 2018 and the radio station syndicated the Freestyle Lives Show to sister station La Mega 94.9/890 in the Boston Market. (Look up Mega 910 on Tune-in).

There are two big Freestyle coming up. In August there's one at The Wells Fargo Center in Philly. This one is sponsored in part by Real 106.1, which is an iHeart Media owned station that plays (mainly) Throwback Hip-Hop. The other Freestyle Concert coming up is at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut in October.
