Now, here's a cartoon that has received many incarnations in the past couple of decades. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began as a comic book by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird before becoming a successful cartoon series and action figure line. Each incarnation of the cartoon begins with a slightly different origin story for each of the for turtles, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and their master, Splinter who teaches them the martial art of ninjitsu. Each ninja turtle has a different personality:

Leonardo: the leader of the crew, wears a blue mask.
Donatello: the genius/inventor, wears a purple mask.
Raphael: has a rude attitude towards his brothers, wears a red mask.
Michelangelo: likes to party, eat pizza, skateboard, and sewer surf, he's the source of much of the show's catchphrases, like "cowabunga!" and "tubular!", as well as other types of surfer lingo, wears an orange mask.

The turtles and their master are doused in a glowing puddle from a broken canister of mutagen on the sewer floor, both the turtles and their master started mutating, and they started growing in size and intelligence.

The turtles fight with honor against the evil Shredder and the Foot Clan, as well as many different villains found in each cartoon series (like Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady, Hun, Karai, the Utroms, Dogpound, Tigerclaw, Fishface, Snakeweed, and the Kraang for example).

Feel free to discuss with some "Turtle Power!"

They were the bane of my existence being in charge of several retail toy departments in
the late 80's/early 90's.

"What, you're sold out of the action figures in the orange mask?
That's the one that eats pizza and says "Cowabunga!"  My little Jimmy wants
THAT one!  I can't go back to him and give him one with the purple mask!
You've RUINED CHRISTMAS!!".

The only thing that drove me more nuts were the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
"Can't you go back in your stockroom and look ONE MORE TIME for the green one?"

I had some TMNT toys including little Polly Pocket/Mighty Max sized turtle figures in a mini Turtle Van playset.

You guys got to check out the latest episode of Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, known as "Trans-Dimensional Turtles" since it's a crossover episode with the classic 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, if you haven't already. I find this crossover better than Turtles Forever, since the 1987 Turtles have their original voices, as well as the original villain, Krang. I like how both the sets of Turtles interact with one-another, if you haven't seen it yet, I've provided a link to the episode from Kisscartoon.

The idea of CGI characters in 2D animation (and vice-versa) has been done before in Jimmy Neutron and Fairly Odd Parents (another Nickelodeon production) with The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius/The Fairly Odd Parents special The Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour, and its sequels When Nerds Collide and The Jerkinators.

Here's the link to the TMNT 2012 season 4 episode, "Trans-Dimensional Turtles":

The Ninja Turtles had a few food tie-ins like cereal with "Ninja Nets" Chex cereal with marshmallows shaped like the turtles' weapons and also Chef Boyardee had a canned pasta featuring the turtles and Shredder.

I have the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Invasion of the Turtle Snatchers" VHS cassette tape, which was available through Burger King in 1990. I found it a few days ago at one of my local thrift shops for 50 cents.

Fast-food giveaways of VHS cassettes were apparently a thing back then.
I have a VHS copy of Hoosiers that I got at a McDonalds in 1990.
Ironically enough, it was a McD in Indiana.

Does anyone remember when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had a line of frozen pizzas? I wished I did!
