None of these locations are huge surprises; Chalfont is surrounded by an Acme and two Giants, and North Wales has a Wegmans currently being built directly behind it.  I'm still not sure which Reading store is closing, but is most likely one of the two in Exeter Township; for some reason Bottom Dollar opened two stores on Perkiomen Ave really close together (the one is a former Staples/ Weis/ Pantry Pride, but the more likely one is in the same shopping center as a Redner's on Shelbourne Rd).

It is the one near Home Depot and Redners that's closing.  Like you said, made no sense to open two stores within that close proximity.
