That big store with the green triangles was not an Ames. It was a PHAR-MOR drug store. There's some pics of it on Flickr, and you can clearly see the PHAR-MOR label scar on it.

The other store wasn't an Ames. It was a Phar-Mor.

Not only is there an empty Ames and an empty Hills here beside each other, but if you will take a closer look there is also a Big Kmart on the other side of the vacant Hills as well.
