I am going to put this one in the defunct category (despite the fact that there is apparently still
one location open in Sturgis, Michigan)

This Michigan-based burger chain was all over the place when I moved there in the late 1980's.
Apparently it got up to 150 locations at its' peak before being sold to PepsiCo, which ran the
company into the ground, forcing it into bankruptcy by 2004.

Without a doubt these guys had THE most annoying TV commercial I've ever seen.
An off-key screeching voice singing:

I don't want no paper crown,
I don't want no plastic clown,
I want

The people I knew nicknamed the restaurant "Rotten Cow" or "Cold 'n Later."

Having not seen that commercial, it sounds like it would be similar to those Sponge Monkeys singing We Like the Subs for Quiznos a few years ago... :)

The last remaining Hot 'n Now is located in Sturgis, Michigan...

There was an Ames in Sturgis.  It was an old Murphy's Mart.  I believe Sturgis was the furthest west store in the chain at that time.  Sturgis is also the location of the baby formula factory that was shut-down by the FDA, resulting in all of these shortages.
