Thanks!  A very interesting article.

This is a BIG issue in the area around Century III Mall.  At one time the retail there was funding
a good chunk of West Mifflin Borough.  The mall is now basically empty and the owners have won
several big reductions in their assessment.  In fact the mall is supposed to go up for Sheriffs Sale
but a legal dispute between Sears Holdings and the borough on the value of their former store
keeps holding that up.

Kennywood Park also won a reduction in amusement taxes so a big burden has been shifted
onto the backs of West Mifflin residents over the past 15 yrs. or so.  (full disclosure: one of
my kids lives in the borough).

As an aside, could the owners of this news site possibly throw any more pop-ups at you??
