Montgomery Wards Founder Aaron Montgomery Ward died in 1913 i belive before the fist store ever opened

Samuel Lord and Peter Taylor, founders of Lord and Taylor, founded the first Lord and Taylor on 5th avenue (though not where it is today) in 1826. They were in their early 30's at the time and they were Scottish immigrants. I am guessing they died in the 1860's or 1870's, way before Lord and Taylor became a big chain.

from what i know the founders of caldor are astill alive just evrey old at this point i think one of the founders of ames is still alive

Richard W. Sears died in 1914 and his partner Alvah C. Roebuck died much later in 1948 ...! They were born in 1863 and 1864.
