1. I don't know, certainly within the last year. I love Skee-Ball.

2. There's one still open in the mall in my city.

3. It could definitely be argued that the release of home consoles and personal computers into the mass (affordable) market did indeed have a considerable impact on arcades, mainly because if the games are available in the home, the arcade becomes unnecessary.

However, I think that perhaps the largest impact has been the considerable shift in the mall's role (considering arcades being in malls, which has predominantly been my experience). Malls are no longer the social place that they were -- and by that, I don't mean that people don't still hang out there -- they do -- but the dynamic has changed. Back in the day, the mall was "the" place to go, for families, for kids, for teenagers. The arcade was a part of that, a place for socializing and a little friendly competition whilst hanging out in the mall all day, eating at various restaurants and window-shopping at stores (if not a bit of the real thing). It was a piece of the whole. Now it's just, indeed, a sparsely populated storefront in the back corner of a wing of the mall, largely abandoned in favor of socializing elsewhere (since the mall no longer seems to fill that role, becoming more of a place for strictly commerce than anything else), or, indeed, spending one's evening in front of the PC or a console.

1. Probably not since I was a kid.

2. About ten miles out at both malls (Timeout, Aladdin's Castle, and some other ones I can't remember the name of).

3. I think arcades are a thing of the past.
