My very favorite band is Genesis (all their incarnations) -- I have loved them since I was five and had the good fortune to catch them on their reunion tour in 2007 down in Boston. I enjoy a considerable variety of music and own far more of it than any sensible human being should! The only major genre in which I probably do not own any recordings would be modern country...I make the distinction only because I do own some Johnny Cash and he would be considered part of the "country" genre by most folks, but the stuff that is considered country music as a general rule today I simply cannot get into. As it stands, I grew up listening to a fair amount of 80s soft rock (the sort of stuff that gets played on Delilah), Britpop, new wave, and some classic rock, but I started hosting a college radio program at age 19 and got into a lot of music then that I might not otherwise have had the pleasure of encountering. To this day, I am constantly adding new albums to my collection, either by artists I already enjoy or ones that I am expecting to. I've seen a lot of different acts live -- in the last year I've caught performances ranging from The Who, and Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates) to The Musical Box (an excellent band that essentially does 'reenactments' of 70s Genesis tours akin to any other historical reenactment) and the Dropkick Murphys, the latter of which I saw here at the University a couple weeks ago. I am heading out to Milwaukee in January to see TMB's new tour, as they are THAT good, but I digress...

I don't think I could necessarily name my favorite genre of music to listen to, but I can say that my favorite genre in which to play would be jazz...especially on bass or drums, quite enjoyable.

At any rate, I shan't bother writing out a list of artists I enjoy, as it would be far too extensive, but if you have any inquiries re: my musical interests, feel free to ask.

(I really like that little rolling smiley, it's quite cute.)

My music listening sensibilities right here. Lots of jazz-fusion; Steely Dan, Supertramp and Bryan Ferry are some notable favorite recognizable artists. I'm surprised at how many of us listen to and cherish "oldies" -- must be a nostalgic thing linked to our love of old dept. stores.

Nice! I have stuff from both the Dan and Supertramp in my collection.

What sort of jazz-fusion? Some artists that I enjoy would be Weather Report, Brand X and Jean Luc Ponty.
