I'd hate to be negative but she has just about as much luck redeeming the value of that card as the chain has in resurrecting itself.

I've got three of those cash cards, retrieved from the corporate offices a while back. I think the trash can with the Ames logo is still there...

Haha, yeah I said she really didn't have any options when it came to redeeming it.  I've still got one with a few dollars left on it as a gift years ago!  Wal-Mart should start accepting competitors cash cards, :insane:

I looped around the former HQ a few months ago and yup, the trash cans were still there on the side of the building.  If I had had my mom's Explorer I would have snatched at least one, like my bro and I did with some shopping carts from the Rocky Hill Ames years ago... hehe
