Here's something vintage.  I've seen this logo only a few times since Bell Atlanic was swept up by Verizon years ago.  I spotted this in Woods Hole, Cape Cod this weekend!

With the Nation's Heavily Reliance on Cell Phones, the need for Payphones has greatly diminished. My store has 4, and I rarely see them being used now.

Back in the day the government split up AT&T and the single national companies out of fear of communism and monopolism.  I remember reading an article not too long ago pointing out that, if you look at things, all the that national companies like AT&T and National Grid are now reforming.  We're down to two major players in the phone industry, Verizon and AT&T with a few smaller companies that can easily be gobbled up by either.  I forsee Verizon and AT&T either merging or Verizon buying them out, and AT&T's name sticking.  I remember they days when Nynex and Bell Atlantic ran things in Mass, then one day all the pay phones and billswere branded Verizon.
