I thought this thread would be about what we did at Ames for recreation,
like picnics or bowling leagues. We really did not do anything like that.
We were open so many hours per week that there was not really a single
hole in the schedule that would allow everyone to participate.
Last time I was in on something like that was working for the David Weis Co.
when I was in college. All of the stores closed early on Sunday, and they had
a number of stores in Pittsburgh. So we formed a softball league where we
played against other stores on Sunday evenings.
It's a shame things like that really can't be done in retail anymore.
