Title: Picture Show Entertainment
Post by: Jstar1994 on August 07, 2017, 06:45:36 PM
Picture Show recently took over the Berlin, CT theater and have made great improvements. They completely re-did the stadium seating in each theater to add recliners. They are now in the process of tearing out the original bathrooms, and then will renovate the lobby. Definitely a win for the area as movie theaters continue to upgrade their theaters in the Hartford region.

That poor theater. Changing owners so many times.

National Amusements/Showcase Cinemas
Rave
Starplex
Starplex sold several theaters to AMC. AMC wasn't allowed to own Berlin (Kensington), Southington (Plantsville), and Plainville. So this theater got sold to Carmike. Unfortunately Carmike got bought by AMC putting this theater in limbo again before Picture Show buying it.

Did Cinemark own it too or did it go directly from Rave to Starplex?

Cinemark never officially ran the theater, but they were prepared to if Rave didn't sell it by the close of the merger. Since the transfer of this theater was so quiet between Carmine/AMC and Picture Show, it makes you wonder if AMC paid Picture Show to take it. Considering that Picture Show is a very small company (11 Theaters) and they are pouring millions into this property, the whole financing question comes to mind.
