When you're 35 years old like I am (holy hell I am old!), someone your own age shouldn't die. Even though I haven't seen or spoke to this person in 22 years (since the last day of 7th grade), it's still sad that this guy I was friends with back in 6th grade died.

Two kids from my high-school were murdered during my senior year.
The guy was 18 and the girl was 17.
About a year after graduation another one of my classmates was killed when the jack
collapsed while he was working underneath his car.
You just never know when your time in this world is up.

It never gets easier. In 2007 (keep in mind I graduated high school in 2000) a classmate of mine got murdered. He got killed trying to break up a fight between two people.
What was hard on me was last year when a former co-worker of mine died at age 26. It was also hard on someone who at the time was a current co-worker of mine and he didn't even know her. He was 22.
Another former co-worked committed suicide. It was shocking but it really didn't affect me because we didn't have many interactions.
The two kids murdered during my senior year:
One was a girl. She was raped and strangled, and her body was dumped in a city park.
This happened in 1981. The case went unsolved until about five years ago when
the perpetrator (who by then was a building contractor who was married with children)
got drunk and bragged to some people in a bar that he had done it.
The other was a boy who was out with another guy and his pregnant girlfriend
drinking in the woods in the wee hours of the morning. A argument broke out
between the kid and his girlfriend and he began smacking her around. The other
guy came to her defense, and the guy who was beating the pregnant girl pulled
out a knife and stabbed him.

Oh NJ bars have secrets. I almost when to a drug party one night, backed out......to this day Im glad. See NJ.com articles on raids, bust, arrests. This was like 7 years ago.....
