The Waterford, Ct store is about 80% knocked down to make way for a new Lowe's. Waterford was the home store of my much hated distirct manager. The building was a former Caldor and not that old; 10-12 yrs old perhaps.

wiched one did u mean by the Vernon ames
This was a good sized Ames and Caldor. Last Ames I went to before they declared bankruptcy. Old Caldor signage such as brown "Employees Only" were left up on stock room doors after Ames moved in. Nice big front lobby of the store with benches. Ames left the mirrors Caldor put up in the clothing departments so the holiday area to the right of the entrance had these mirrors on the poles. Both Caldor and Ames had restrooms in back of the store in the same hallway as the break room and employee areas. Although restrooms were clean they were 80's styled and the color scheme was real gloomy.
lowe's website says coming soon for waterford ct.
Lowe's opens Jan. 27. The old Cross Road Centre sign with Ames on it still stands right next to the store visible from I-95 advertising to all the travelers the closed store.
