Does anyone remember Popular Supermarkets?? I believe there were 5 stores...Manchester near Shady Glen, Manchester in the Burr Corners, Glasonbury on Main Street and East Hartford in the Triangle of Brewer, Main and Highland street.

WOW!! They were also in downtown Middletown CT in the 1950's, and also before it was Greenfields(and before that Warehouse Foods) they were in West Hartford CT, across the street from Grand Union(Waldbaums/Big Y.)

Yes.

Ok.. so staples used to buy old stores when they first started I guess... (the East Hartford CT BLVD location was built by Staples), but they bought old supermarkets when they started. The Brandon FL Staples was a Luria's Catalouge Showroom.
