Title: Ames #1 store was originally a Kmart!!!

The Ames in Sturbridge, MA, which closed as store #1, appears to be a former Kmart!!! Does anyone know the history of it?

The Kmart appears to have been built in the period 1969-1974. Does anyone know when it closed? I read many Kmarts closed in 1994. Kmart went bankrupt in 2002, the same year as Ames. :huh:

But I do know Kmart (and many other stores) close individual stores sometimes.
