i never seen one but im sure they had them heh maby ames reused them
From what I remember of the converted Zayres I went to in Florida, Ames kept the Zayre carts. I can't remember if they covered them up with stickers or just left them alone. I do know all the stores had the orange and brown Zayre interiors!
I did saw Zayre carts maybe in 1997 or 1998. The Marden's store in Brewer ME had dozens of Zayre carts.
They were metal carts, quite large and there was a Zayre logo on the plastic handle. I finally went back there last december but they were all gone... replaced by Bradlees plastic carts!
Zayre did have red plastic carts, I saw them in a picture on Pleasant Family Shopping.

Nice find on flickr!! That is a vintage cart from Zayre. The location in Nashua had plastic ones that were orange? brown? They were similar to the plastic Ames carts.
i wish in my life time to find a Zayre metal or plastic cart in person
I only remember the orange Zayre carts with the star logo and Zayre written next to it in white.
they remained at both of the Ames stores in Dartmouth and Fall river until Ames in Fall River got updated and got all the green carts. Dartmouth kept them until they fell apart or were stolen.
We got faded red cards at my job and every time I see them I think of Zayre

The Gloversville Salvation Army store has one. A metal Unarco with a serial no. of 369622 with what appears to be a date code of 10 84.
