i was cleaning my garage and i found a pair of gardening shears with the name ames on them in shiny blue lettering are those from the ames store and if they are i wonder how i got them im currently in Wisconsin and never went to any ames stores i will post a picture tomorrow

Ames tools are not Ames. Ames tools was founded in 1774. Their slogan is 'We Built America'

Also why the store chain had to use a longer name for the internet (like amesstores), since ames.com was already taken as shown above by the tool company.

So far as I can recall we never sold Ames tools at Ames.
