Title: Primanti Brothers
Post by: Hudsons81 on October 03, 2015, 10:00:57 AM
Discuss.

They are a deli-style place based out of Pittsburgh. So far, they have 17 locations in Pennsylvania and three in Florida. They will take over the space at Southland Center in Taylor, MI presently occupied by Ruby Tuesday in 2016.

This restaurant has it's roots in Pittsburgh's Strip District (an area like Greektown in Detroit that was the place where area merchants would come early in the morning to buy produce and seafood that had been brought in on trains).  That original location is still there, and gained fame in the 70's and 80's as the place to go for a bite after the bars closed at 2AM.

This place started out serving truck drivers who were making early morning trips into the Strip to pick up produce.  Primantis designed a sandwich where they put the entire meal on it so that they could drive back to wherever they were going with the other hand.

Their sandwich consists of two thick slices of Italian bread, topped by meat (several choices), topped by French fries and coleslaw.  Fries and slaw on the sandwich is sort of their signature thing.

Personally I am not a fan.
