Title: Boscov\'s Rip-off Closing Sale
Post by: TwoGuysJerseyGirl on September 11, 2008, 08:44:57 PM
Went to the closing sale at the Monmouth Mall, NJ store tonight and was definitely underwhelmed. The signs said 50-70% off, but off WHAT price?? They jacked everything in the store up at the very least 30% higher than it ever was. No deals in there, that's for sure. Looks like all the good stuff got shuttled off to the remaining open Boscov's.

One really cool thing: they were selling off all the shelves, fixtures, display cases, etc. Really nice jewelry display cases - if you have a booth or table at a flea market, you could pick up some good stuff. Unfortunately, everything was pretty expensive, scratches, dents and all.

It's like any other Going out of Business sale...whenever you see those obnoxiously bright "Store Closing" signs it is an instant scam. Liquidators take over all the pricing, jack up the original prices, then little discounts on top of that, but it brings people in. There was an article in my local paper on Boscov's specifically showing how many items were way cheaper at non-closing locations.
