Local Market on Lowery Place in Newington is closing for good at the end of September. The store was originally part of The Best Market Chain. The other 27 Best Market locations in New York and New Jersey were sold to Lidl last year.

No. Interestingly enough, two of the small spaces in the plaza were recently leased. The equipment and shelving inside the grocery store still remains as-is since they closed in September. They just left everything. This would be an ideal location for a Geisslers or any IGA.

Not counting the Best Market space, how many vacancies are left in the plaza?

2 spaces left. They are the two restaurants on the end by the post office. The church space that was purposed is still under construction. The gym just opened. I feel bad for the owner. He did a very good job getting it up and running and now he can't operate because of this crap situation. The liquor store that's been there forever even temporarily shut down until this is over. The sign on their window says "Until this leaves us alone".

I remember that the restaurant was a Litchfield Farms. When I went to NCH (Newington Children's Hospital) for therapy, mom used to take me for ice cream and Grand Union for shopping.
