This mall opened in 1992 with JCPenney, Filenes, Sears, and Jordan Marsh. In 1995, Jordan Marsh closed, and Dick's Sporting Goods moved in the upper level. HomePlace moved into the lower level. Nobody Beats the Wiz joined the mall in 96, but closed a year later. FYE now occupies that space. In 1998, HomePlace closed as well. The mall is 1.2 million square feet, and holds 120 stores, and the anchors are Filenes(Macy's), Sears, JCPenney, H&M(in the old HomePlace location), Dick's Sporting Goods, Target(added on in 2002), and Borders Books and Music. The mall also holds a 16 screen Leows Theater.

Best Buy and Linens and Things are in a seperate building next to the mall.

there must have been a stienbach instead of Jordan marsh. When Jordan marsh opened in salem nh in summer 1994, the article in the boston globe (found from newslibrary) said that it is the first jordan marsh since 1988 and the jordan marsh that opened then was in swansea.

this sounds like a good mall. what was added to the mall in 1997?

JORDAN'S TO OPEN IN SALEM, N.H.
Jordan Marsh is on the rebound. A new 160,000 square foot store, the first the retail chain has built since 1988, is set to open in Salem, N.H., this month. An even larger one will open in Natick around Labor Day. While leading a tour through Jordan Marsh's newest store yesterday, the retail chain's regional director, Peter Blount, said, ''This represents a beginning and a resurgence for Jordan Marsh in New England.'' I'm sorry, but I live in Middletown and remember when this mall was built. There was a Steinbach and no Jordan Marsh. Dick's moved into the Steinbach space.

The mall's current anchors are Macy's, JC Penney, Sears, Dick's, & Target. It also houses Old Navy, H&M, Victoria's Secret, Aeropostale, The Gap, PacSun, FYE, American Eagle, Hot Topic, Verizon Wireless, The Disney Store, DSW Shoes, Borders, Yankee Candle, Lane Bryant, New York & Co., Radio Shack, Zumiez, The Childrens Place, and several other stores. It also has an AMC theatre which was added onto later taking advantage of the space once occupied by Filene's Basement. We had a Lechmere for a brief period once upon a time as well.
