Title: Little Caesar's
Post by: dmx10101 on September 01, 2006, 02:36:11 AM
I miss them they are still around but with not near as many locations as they used to have. LittleCaesars.com (http://www.littlecaesars.com/default.asp) to find locations. Anyways I always used to go to the Little Caesars in the Kmart when I was younger with my parents. That Kmart closed about 10 years ago but it was a cool Kmart, it had really high Sams Club ceilings with the big warehouse lights too. I was big and open. I miss it. Kmarts hardly have little caesars anymore.

Yeah, mine is hidden in a stockroom in the back. I found out that if you go back near the bathrooms, open the left grey door a tad, and look up diagonally to the left, you can still see the Little Caesar's sign!:P:P:P

No, actually I think they're just too lazy... they built a wall in front of the LC's after it closed, but didn't go to the trouble to take the non-visible-to-the-public sign down. You know Kmart....When that store goes up to that big warehouse in the sky, and that sign is a-sittin' in the rubble, I'll be there for it!
.......
Just like I swore to get the fallout shelter sign on the ol' YMCA...next time I pass there, there is no YMCA. Where Is the YMCA?!?!
Sorry if I got off topic.

The first and last time i've had a Little Caesar's pizza was at the now closed Kmart in Scarborough, Maine.  This was probably more than 10 years ago since the store closed in december 1995.

I looked at their website and found there's only one Little Ceasers in Connecticut and that's inside the Southbury Big Kmart. Surprised they're still in Big KMART since most KMARTS went to the K Cafe.

Little Caesars Largo, FL. I worked at this one for two years. I had no idea there was such a thing as freestanding Little Caesars until I moved to this area. Previously the only ones I had seen were inside Kmart.

There are also the remains of a former Little Caesars in the Largo K-Mart, yet strangely enough no labelscar on the outside of the store.

I agree last time I was to a Little Caesars was in Kmart in Webster, MA, before it became the Krapmart Snack Bar, and has possible the worst food on earth.  I used to go there for the crazy bread after school!

I've heard their single stores specialize in making plain and roni pizza's around the clock so you can just walk in an purchase one without having to wait.

Yes. They've moved away from the old-style call in and order type of pizza place to become more of a fast-food style restaurant.  They gave up delivery service years ago.

This little Caesers Pizza has not been open since about 2001. It sat empty for 5 years and it is now a used car store. It is still the same building, they just did some major renovating.

This pic is from about 1997.

Only Little Caeser's that is local to me is inside the Kmart in South Attleborough. Food is ok, but the place always looks less than clean, odd since the Kmart itself is immaculate. There was a free standing Little Caeser's a few miles up the road but I am unsure when it closed and became different take out pizza place.

Little Caesars seems to be on the upswing. About 10-15 years ago they were dropping like flies, but they've maintained a very solid presence in Michigan, and new locations seem to be cropping up everywhere.

I really like the flavor of LC pizza in general. The toppings aren't very generous, but it balances out very well. A Little Caesars in a Kmart just isn't the same thing at all.

Sometimes I get amazing pizzas at this location, and sometimes they're absolute crap -- it doesn't help that they seemingly never have the same employee twice when I go! :D

The price is right, though -- $5 for the large pizza, which is not a HUGE large by any means, but certainly three or more meals' worth for me.

I don't know of any other LC locations remaining in the area -- there used to be one across the river in Brewer but that closed ages ago, in the early 90s maybe?

Little Caesar's is pretty good. They took the one in Kmart out a few years ago. We have one left now.

Funny story about it, it used to be in an very small old KFC location, which was recentley torn down to build their modern stucture. KFC had moved right up the street into a former Burger Boy location. Which as of last year, also was torn down to build a modern KFC stucture.

We have a little Caesars right here on Second St. I was pretty happy to find that out. I hadn't eaten LCP since 1995 or so. I stopped in and got a cheese pizza..... It was NASTY crap in a box. They now make them hours ahead and toss them in a heat box to keep them warm. The receipe is nothing like what I remember at all.
Sadly LCP gets the :barf: award!!

I saw an ad on MONSTER.COM that Little Ceasers is looking to hire managers for their new Bristol, CT location. Bristol's Little Ceasers closed close to 20 years ago. It's been a local Italian Market since then. Nice to see they're coming back. Ceasers website doesn't have a Bristol location listed yet. Bristol will be the 3rd in CT. The other 2 being on The Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield and the Southbury KMART.

I happen to adhere to the notion that there's no such thing as bad pizza (though obviously some pizzas are better than others.)  Still, if it's fresh out of the oven it's better than if it's been in the holding cabinet (http://download.partstown.com/is-bin/intershop.static/WFS/Reedy-PartsTown-Site/-/en_US/manuals/CRE-H138NPSCLC_spm.pdf) for a while.  They have a hard and fast limit as to how long they will continue to hold already-baked pizzas, which I turned to my advantage one night as they were about to close - I got the "old" pizza and a new one for the price of one!  I stock up on their gift certificate bonus offer each Christmas and buy a year's worth in advance - I end up paying only about $4/pizza all year long.  Try and get a guaranteed 20% return on your money any other way these days...

After having a fairly stable roster of locations in Maine, Little Caesars has expanded rapidly of late. Greater Portland has three locations now (the original Pine Tree location, Scarborough near Walmart, and now Northgate in Portland.) Both Lewiston and Auburn have stores (competitor Papa John's consolidated its Auburn and Lewiston locations years ago) and Topsham and Bath serve the Bath-Brunswick market. I wonder if we're about to see a return to the bad old days of the 90s when LC over-expanded and exited entire regions of the country. There can't be huge margins in selling $5 large pizzas.

Little Caesars was open in Albany NY I went there a few times but couldn't get there very much because it was on the other side of town. when I finally went back it had closed I really wish they'd open another one in my local area I know about 6 places that would be perfect to open one. What's weird is that when a Mobil station near me changed to Valero, the Burger King attached to the Mobil closed, sat empty for a time, but then a Little Caesar's opened at the site. Also, a former Blockbuster next to a Safeway became a Little Caesar's, but I was thinking Starbucks would open at the Blockbuster site, because the Safeway has a very popular Starbucks inside (which does a ton of business even though the Safeway is always otherwise dead) that would probably want to move to a freestanding site if the Safeway closed.

Little Caesar's recently re-entered the Pittsburgh market.
They were here in the late 80's and suddenly disappeared.
There are now 3 stores reasonably close to my home.

Not the best pizza, but for five bucks I certainly can't complain.
I did notice that unless you go at the dinner hour they generally are
not "hot and ready" though.

The pizza business in this town is cutthroat.  Hundreds of mom-and-pop
shops, many run by Italian families with very authentic recipes.

Little Caesar's has just announced that they would be building a new eight-story corporate headquarters building in downtown Detroit, with an enclosed pedestrian bridge over Columbia Street connecting it to the Fox Theater, which, like Little Caesar's, is owned by Mike Illitch.

http://www.freep.com/story/money/business/columnists/tom-walsh/2014/12/10/little-caesars-ilitich-tom-walsh/20184917/ (http://www.freep.com/story/money/business/columnists/tom-walsh/2014/12/10/little-caesars-ilitich-tom-walsh/20184917/)

Little Caesar's has somehow managed to stay afloat here in Michigan, as TenPoundHammer said on the first page, even when they've pulled out of other markets.

There is still no Little Caesar's in Southington or Bristol Connecticut. Back in the day both towns had one. The one in Bristol was free-standing location on Route 6 that closed in 1988 or 1989 and spent over 20 years as and Italian Market and Deli. Now it's a Japanese Restaurant called Bonsai. Southington hasn't had one since they closed the one inside of KMART. That was a long time ago too. KMART has been Price Chopper for 13 years and KMART closed in 02 or 03. Both towns have empty Pizza Hut carry-out locations where a Little Caesar's can go.

For the second time LC has left the troubled plaza. Are more closures on the way? Edit 2/17: LC now says that the abrupt closure is because of unsuccessful rent negotiations with the landlord. Here are a couple of pics of the closed location:
