Apparently they're still around, but only in a few states. There was one in Merced, Ca, which is now a Carl's Jr. restaurant.

There used to be one in my hometown.  The company sold alot of their company owned restaurants in the late-90's.  They still have their website and restaurants: www.rax-online.com

Isn't that a Hardees logo? One local rax was tore down and became a bank, while another became an indian restaurant. The only rax that still is in operation is located in Ironton, Ohio.

Well, when CKE (parent company of Carl's Jr.) bought Hardee's they changed Hardee's logo to the same one Carl's Jr. uses. They changed a lot of other things, so now Hardee's is basically a Carl's Jr. under another name. I don't know if they took over any other Rax locations besides this one, though...

Wish I had a picture of the restaurant itself...but this location in St. Clairsville, Ohio was still open as of 2009, but closed and was demolished sometime thereafter.

They have a website up.

Appears they still have 8 locations in Ohio, 2 in Kentucky, one in Parkersburg, WV
and one in Joliet, IL.

http://www.raxroastbeef.com/locations.html

A buddy of mine was in their management training program back in the day.
At the time they were running very strange animated TV commercials featuring
a character called "Mr. Delicious".

Wouldn't you know it - I did take a picture of the St. Clairsville location after all.

Again, this has been demolished.

Found a rather unusual use for a former Rax this week. This location was converted to a dry cleaners and car wash some time ago, but has clearly not been in business for a while. Should have stuck to the beef.
