i believe they were a regalnl Dept stoe they closed sometime in 1995 or 1996 they were also once called woodward

"Woodie's" was a nickname for the chain's name, Woodward and Lathrop (think i spelled the 2nd part of the name wrong). I don't know anything about them except they were a chain similar to J.C. Penney in the Mid-Attlantic states. They all closed in 1995

Woodward & Lothrop was a Washington DC and Maryland department store.  It later became part of a group with John Wanamaker.  Fondly called Woodies by generations of Washingtonians, it was second only to Garfinckel's in quality in the nation's capital.  I forget, but there were probably some other locations in VA and DE.
