Connecticut partially reopens

Connecticut has partially reopened as of Wednesday May 20th. During Phase One all the non-essential retailers were allowed to open, restaurants were allowed to have out door dining in-addition to the previously allowed curb side pick-up/delivery. Offices could reopen too, but the Governor said to continue working from home if at all possible.

Not a lot of stores have reopened.

Kohl's remains closed at all their Connecticut Locations. Curbside Pick up continues at select loctations.

TJX - All banners remain closed in Connecticut. TJ MAXX, Marshall's, Home Goods, Home Sense, Sierra.

Burlington remains closed.

Beyond - All banners remain closed in the state. - Bed Bath Beyond, Buy Buy Baby, Cost World Market, Christmas Tree Shop, etc.

Five Below - All Connecticut locations remain closed.

The Paper Store - Only some locations are open. Bristol is closed.

Eblen's - I know for a fact Bristol, New Britain, and Meriden Square locations are open.

Most of the malls are open, though most businesses remain closed in them. A story on NBC 30 last evening said only 30 of the 130+ merchants at West Farms Mall were open.

JCP and Macy's remain closed in Connecticut.

Al Boscov said his 2 Connecticut locations in Meriden and Milford were supposed to reopen today, but nothing abut them is mentioned on the list of stores currently open at Meriden Square Mall.

Goodwill of Southern New England reopened their stores.

Saver's is closed.

Uptown Consignment - This chain is reopening on Monday May 25th.

Consignment Originals - This chain is reopening May 27th.

Nail and Hair Salons can reopen Monday June 1st. (Originally they were supposed to reopen on May 20th).

The 2 Casinos are supposed to reopen on Monday June 1st, but the Governor doesn't want them to reopen. He has no say. Night Clubs, Buffets, Concert Venues have to remain closed. Restaurants for take-out only. CT and RI residents only.


Phase 2 of reopening Connecticut is tentatively scheduled for June 20th. That will include indoor dining at restaurants, movie theaters, gyms, outdoor amusement parks.

Christmas Tree Shops in CT were supposed to open today (May 22). This was on their website.

Kind of surprised Five Below didn't try to get qualified as 'essential' like the dollar stores.

Kind of surprised Five Below didn't try to get qualified as 'essential' like the dollar stores.

Same for a place like Christmas Tree Shops, as they have a fair amount of food items and usually some section of health and beauty for things like soaps, sanitizers and similar.
